Salah is the prayer. Salah is the Miraaj of the believer. Salah is the Ascension of the believer. Yet the majority of the Muslims do not even know what Salah really is. The true meaning of the Salah should be taught to the Muslims by the Imams in Masjid. I hope any Imam of a Masjid that reads this will pass this knowledge to his Muslim community. The question that needs to be asked is:
HOW IS SALAH THE MIRAAJ FOR A BELIEVER?
Have you ever looked, or should I say observed a person performing Salah? The answer will be YES everyday.
But have you ever really observed?
What do you mean really observed? Salah is Salah what is there to observe?
Then the question arises, How is Salah the Miraaj for a believer?
Here is the answer.
There are only 4 positions in Salah:
1 Standing
2 Bowing
3 Prostrating
4 Sitting
Observe from the left side of the person performing the Salah.
Why the left side?
Because Arabic is written from RIGHT TO LEFT. The observer or writer of Arabic is on the 'left side' of the actual writing.
Now coming back to the 4 positions in Salah we have:
1 Standing - This represents the Letter
Alif ()
2 Bowing - This represents the Letter
Ha ()
3 Prostrating - This represents the Letter
Meem ()
4 Sitting - This represents the Letter
Dal ()
Each position of the Salah represents one Arabic Letter. We have 4 positions in Salah. Therefore we have 4 Arabic Letters in Salah.
These Arabic Letters when assembled together, represent the Name spelt:
Alif Ha Meem Dal or
AHMAD which when joined up is written
.
Who is Ahmad? Ahmad is none other than Muhammad
who gave taught us Salah in the first place.
Those who say Muhammad
is dead do not even know the number of different ways the blessings
are sent to Allah's Beloved. Yet they perform the Salah without
knowing why it is the Miraaj of a believer.
Wait a minute, on the night of Miraaj,
Muhammad was with Allah. So how can the
Salah be Miraaj without Allah?
Let me digress for a few minutes. I read
the letters which are published in the book the Darqawi Way written by
the Shaikh to his disciple. The Master gives a lot of advise on
the basic conduct of the Student. Then finally towards the end
of the book, which are the later letters, the Master teaches the
Zikr. The Zikr is none other than the Name ALLAH. The student
when doing the Zikr must visualise the Letters of the Name Allah
- Alif Laam Laam Ha . Furthermore the
Master says "If the Veil between you and Allah is not removed
within 7 days or 3 weeks at the most then laugh at us" or
words to that effect. I tried it for a while, without success.
I was in no mood for laughing just as I am in no mood for laughing
at this very moment. Then one day it dawned on me. What was
it that dawned on you?
If you wait a few minutes, I will tell you. But before we do that, let us go back to Salah and Miraaj.
Now we have found Muhammad
in the Salah. But where is Allah? How can there be Miraaj without
Allah.
There is a Hadees which goes something like this: Read the Salah as if you can see Allah. If you cannot do that then read the Salah as if Allah is watching or seeing you. And if you cannot achieve that then concentrate on the words that you are reciting.
Have you ever really observed a person
performing Salah while he is in the sitting position? You don't
need to stand in front. But look at how the legs are folded. Look
at the right foot that needs to be placed such that the heel is
pointing upward while the toes touch the ground. Now look at the
word LILLAH .
Does this answer the question about Salah and why it is the Miraaj of the believers?
